Your orthodontic treatment of dr. med. dent. Felix German in Berlin
Braces are not only used to straighten crowded teeth, but can also be used to optimise tooth distribution before bridges or implants are planned. In the case of extreme discrepancies between the upper and lower jaw, a combined surgical and orthodontic treatment in cooperation with an oral surgeon may be necessary.
Let us advise you and experience the possibilities of modern, invisible and gentle orthodontics!
Our services
Fixed braces
Fixed braces include so-called brackets, which are attached to the teeth for the duration of the treatment, as well as bands and archwires. Fixed braces are used to correct the position of the teeth. Gaps as well as rotated or tilted teeth can be successfully treated this way.
Advantages:
- Active 24 hours a day
Disadvantages:
- Makes oral hygiene more difficult
Brace Options:
Standard Braces
Advantages:
- Covered by the statutory health insurance
Disadvantages:
- Unpleasant to painful, as mainly stainless steel wires are used.
- Unaesthetic
- May cause irritation of mucous membranes
- More difficult to clean
- The elastics which are used provide a habitat for plaque and bacteria.
Self-ligating Braces
This is the most advanced bracket system. There is no need for additional elastics, so there is less plaque accumulation around the brackets.
Advantages:
- Treatment is more comfortable.
- Less discomfort during tooth movement due to the use of softer titanium wires
- Less plaque accumulation
- Easier to carry out oral hygiene
Disadvantage:
- Are only to some extent covered by the statutory health insurance
Ceramic self-ligating Braces
Ceramic brackets are an aesthetic alternative to metal brackets. They are more discreet than metal brackets and increase the acceptance of fixed braces.
Advantages:
- see self-ligating metal brackets
- more aesthetic than other brackets
Disadvantage:
- more expensive than above mentioned brackets
Aligners
Dr. German has had experience with this treatment method since 2006.
Benefit from the many years of experience of our team, from over 1000 successfully treated cases and let us advise you on this topic, based on countless treatment examples.
Advantages:
- Aesthetic, as they are not visible
- Comfortable to wear
- Hygienic
- No restrictions while speaking
TMJ disorders
Also known as temporomandibular disorders are one of the most common complaints in dentistry. The consequences are manifold:
- Painful tension
- Neck pain
- Migraine
- Tinnitus (ringing or other noises in one or both of your ears)
We offer an interdisciplinary treatment concept where orthopaedists, dentists, physiotherapists and osteopaths work together.
Surgical orthodontic treatment
This treatment is used for very pronounced (skeletal) jaw malpositions where pure orthodontic therapy with braces is not successful. The treatment is carried out in close, interdisciplinary cooperation with oral surgery.
This combined therapy can not only achieve an aesthetically pleasing result, but also prevent subsequent problems in the jaw area. The possible consequences of an untreated pronounced jaw malposition include a significantly restricted chewing function as well as overloading of teeth and/or jaw joints.
Benefit from the many years of experience of our team and from over 200 successfully treated cases and let us advise you on this subject with the help of countless treatment examples.
Professional mouth guard
A mouthguard made to measure is recommended for all sports in which teeth can be injured. These are not only high-risk sports such as boxing, martial arts or hockey, teeth can also be damaged during handball or basketball.
Especially for patients with fixed braces, we recommend a mouth guard, as otherwise frequent bracket losses can occur.
This may delay your orthodontic treatment.
Fixed retainers
Over 90% of all people experience tooth movement throughout their lives, both with or without orthodontic treatment.
The gold standard for stabilising the treatment result is the insertion of fixed retainers.
Because a fixed retainer is just made from a thin wired bonded to the inside row of your teeth it can’t be seen when you speak or smile. It might feel a little bit strange at first, but you’ll soon forget that it is there as your tongue will get completely familiar with it!
We recommend leaving fixed retainers for a lifetime.
Another great benefit is that you can’t misplace a fixed retainer because it is permanently bonded to your teeth.
